Butterflies

This was a different way of making some butterflies! This project was a 2 day one. The butterfly is made of coffee filters. I put glue in lines and swirls over their filter and let them sprinkle the different colors of glitter. Even though the glitter made a huge mess they had a blast doing it! When we finished the glitter, we had to wait a day for it to dry and they were all curious as to what it was going to make.

The next day, when everything was dried we pulled them back out. We pushed together the middle of the butterfly and they got to choose which color pipe cleaner they wanted to use. All you have to do is twist it around the center and curl the ends to make it like a butterfly. They thought it was neat that it was a different kind of butterfly. All their butterflies turned out different depending on the location of the glitter and the colors.

Pigs

We made pigs out of paper plates! This was a 2 day project but they loved every step of it. One day we painted the paper plates pink with sponges. We had to wait till the next day to do the rest to make sure the paint dried. The next step was to put the pig pieces together. They glued down the different parts of the pig which was made from construction paper. And finally the tail is made out of pink pipe cleaners. Overall, I think it turned out really cute. :)

Flamingo

We made a flamingo out of our hand print! We painted our hands pink and painted them sideways on the paper and added a beak and an eye and some legs. We talked about where these birds can be found. And it was interesting to know that some of the kids have never seen a flamingo before.

Rainbows

We made rainbows out of fruit loops! I just drew the 6 lines for each color and put the glue on and they put the rainbow together. The clouds are made out of cotton balls! They thought it was funny to use cereal to make a rainbow. We also talked about the different colors of the rainbows and where you see them at!

Monkeys!

We made monkeys! The monkey is made out of their footprint with an addition of a tail using peach and brown paint. They thought it was funny that we were using 2 colors on their feet this time. The palm tree is made out of dot art. I drew some lines and they dot arted it all by themselves staying on the line. They haven't done this before with me, so they thought it was fun to use the dot art. The sand on the bottom of the tree is also dot art using peach. Overall, it was definitely a fun craft for them! They were laughing and smiling the whole time!

Chicks/Elephant/Flower

One of my fellow teachers came up with this idea and we did it in the afternoon with the kids. They loved making baby chicks for Easter!

We made elephants out of paper plates. This was a 2-day craft. On the first day we mixed and painted the paper plate gray. We used cotton balls this time for something different to paint with. Though it was something different and they had fun with it, it was a little messy. On the second day, we colored the elephant parts gray and then glued them on and added a huge eyeball!

We made flowers our of our fingerprints! They were totally surprised what their fingerprints were making. Then just glued on the leaves.

Flowers!

This project took 2 days to make! The first day we made the flower part. I asked them which color they wanted to do for their flower and we put their hand print on 6 times. They loved watching their hand prints turn into a flower!

The second day we did the steam and the leaves out of their feet! I painted their feet green and then put their feet as the leaves against the steam. They asked what they were making and were very surprised (in a good way) that it was the addition to the flower they had made before.

They loved making each part of the flower from their hand prints to their feet prints! Spring crafts are always fun to make with the kids! :)
